A Piece of Santorini in La Union

If you will ask me to recommend a luxury resort in North Luzon, Thunderbird Resort in Poro Point, La Union will definitely be on top of my list. Nestled on a scenic cliff near the old and new Poro Point Lighthouse, this beautifully designed resort is definitely one of the finest in the archipelago.

I’ve been to so many beautiful resorts in the country but not all of them are worth remembering due to unsatisfactory customer service. For me, customer service has a huge impact on each customers overall experience. In Thunderbird Resort Poro Point La Union, I experienced amazing hospitality. Guest front liners are extremely helpful from the moment we stepped into the resort till the time we checked out. I really had a great relaxing experience.

The entire building is painted in white with several blue colored dome that is very similar to some of the iconic buildings in Santorini Greece. Similar to the famous beach destination in Greece, the hotel replicates the serenity of Grecian design and architecture but the beautiful smile from the staff and and the warm hospitality remains very Filipino.

The resort is not only famous for its nice location and beautiful architecture but also for its stunning sunset. Get a room with a veranda facing the West Philippine Sea to capture one of the most beautiful sunset in the Philippines.

Aside from their spacious rooms, each room has a beautiful veranda that gives you a breath-taking view of the resort property and the sea. Its a perfect place to spend your afternoon while waiting for the sunset.

Their breakfast is served at Olives Restaurant – a restaurant located right next to the lobby. My favorite part of the restaurant is the alfresco area where you can have a perfect view of the sea while enjoying your breakfast. The food selection is not that huge but I like everything they serve. From their freshly baked breads, fresh garden salad, Filipino breakfast dishes to Chinese dim sum selections – everything they serve are delightfully good.
